Another recruitment is announced following the 1,331 health workers recruited this year and already deployed in health facilities in Benin. And it will be on behalf of the year 2022, said the Minister of Health Benjamin Hounkpatin, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, on the television program The government in action.
“(…) We have for this year 2022, planned to recruit a little more than 500 qualified health workers”, announced Benjamin Hounkpatin, Minister of Health, Tuesday, May 31, 2022. The objective of the government, through this recruitment which will take place following the 1,331 new health workers deployed this year, is to strengthen the presence of qualified human resources in hospitals in Benin. Several other programs are planned within this framework. “I am taking a program that we have with the Islamic Development Bank which will enable the pre-insertion of new doctors, midwives and nurses coming out of training schools. For two years, these young doctors, midwives and nurses will be pre-integrated, will work everywhere throughout the national territory and at the end of the two years they will be given substantial savings which will allow them afterwards to be able to go for a specialization. Because today, there is something fundamental. Benin no longer has medical specialists as such. So we are going to support these doctors, put them through a process of specialization so that in 5 to 10 years we can have effective coverage of our needs in specialist doctors, “explained the Minister of Health on the television program Le government in action.
There will also be “more than 6,000 community health workers and community relays that the State will recruit and make available to the populations”.
It should be noted that the Head of State Patrice Talon announced for his second five-year term (2021-2026) the recruitment of three thousand health workers.
