Pathé Dione, president of the Sunu group died this Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Paris following illness. Pathé Dione, the founder and CEO of the pan-African bancassurance group passed away at the age of 81. A news that saddens the whole of Africa.

Senegal has just lost one of its most important entrepreneurs. African finance is in mourning. The president of the Sunu Pathé Dione Group, died this Thursday January 12, 2023 morning in Paris. An icon of the African financial sector, the pan-African Pathé Dione was deeply attached to his African and Senegalese roots during his lifetime. He thus founded the Sunu group at the end of the 90s. This group is present in more than 17 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including Cameroon. The Sunu group acquired BICIS, a subsidiary of BNP Paribas in Senegal, at the end of 2022, to consolidate the banking division of its group.

In October 2022, Pathé Dione left the General Management of the Sunu group, but retained the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors, and joined the Management Committee as a member. Pathé Dione has always had a considerable attachment to its African roots. The Senegalese businessman leaves an impressive economic and financial legacy built since 1998.
