This Monday, January 9, 2023, a delegation made up of the corporate social responsibility team within the Ogooué mining company (Comilog) and the deputy head of the EDG microfinance agency of Moanda Darwin Moussinga went toer in contact with two beneficiaries of the mi seed funds put in place by the mining company in collaboration with the Gabonese State. It was a question of soaking up the implementation of their respective projects.

Financed by the microfinance institution EDG within the framework of the partnership agreement signed in September 2022, these two entrepreneurs each obtained, in less than a month, a loan, up to 5 million FCFA, repayable in 24 months . Envelopes that have enabled them to set up income-generating activities.

Thus, Jules Ongoua, retired at Comilog, was able to set up a grocery store in the town of Mounana where he lives. Nancy Abessolo, resident in the same city, opted to open a restaurant in the Alliance district. Although skeptical at first, these two project leaders still seized the opportunity that presented itself to them.

This seed fund for local entrepreneurs is part of supporting the local economy in order to find an alternative to mining. This is fed by the Gabonese State and Comilog via the CSR fund. It should be remembered that the conditions for accessing loans with a guaranteed interest rate of between 5 and 6% are as follows: be Gabonese, reside in Comilog’s area of influence and have a project whose implementation cost varies between 1 and 25 million.
