Ivory Coast: Meyliet Koné inaugurates the Tafiré COOPEC

On a 72-hour working visit to the Hambol region, the Vice-President of the Republic, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, made a stopover in Tafiré, on Friday January 27, 2023, to inaugurate the city’s COOPEC agency. It was in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Adama Coulibaly and the temporary administrator of the National Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Côte d’Ivoire (UNACOOPEC-CI), Issiaka Savané.

On this occasion, Minister Adama Coulibaly revealed that UNACOOPEC, umbrella organization of the COOPEC of Tafiré, represents about 1/4 of the assets of the microfinance sector. “The ceremony that brings us together today is of great significance to me because it confirms the establishment of an economic and financial development tool at the service of the populations. Indeed, UNACOOPEC, the umbrella organization of the COOPEC of Tafiré, represents about 1/4 of the assets of the microfinance sector with an important territorial network made up of 138 service points spread over the entire national territory”, a- he says.

This institution, continued the Minister, has shown a great ability to penetrate the target populations and a solid potential as an instrument of social intermediation. “It is therefore definitely an institution with a strong impact in the field of financial inclusion and a great instrument for accelerating development that benefits everyone, especially our populations in rural areas,” he added.

The Minister of Economy and Finance also indicated that in view of this impact of UNACOOPEC, the opening of this agency marks the government’s desire to allow the Tafiré region to benefit more from the social policies implemented. works through different projects.

“To take account of financial equilibrium contracts, one of the criteria for opening the new UNACOOPEC agency is the provision of functional premises. (…) This new agency should allow populations and economic operators to get closer to open, available, inexpensive financial services capable of taking into account the realities of the region”, underlined Adama Coulibaly, while welcoming the efforts made by his chief of staff, Minafou Fanta Coulibaly Koné, daughter of the region, to facilitate, with the assistance of all the executives of the region, the realization of the COOPEC agency of Tafiré.

For his part, the temporary administrator of UNACOOPEC-CI, Issiaka Savané, pointed out that the inaugurated agency is the 135th service point of the umbrella. According to him, this agency will serve as a lever for financial inclusion in the department of Tafiré and well beyond.
